Help with Warhammer Online

Just bought a boxset from HMV for £15, got the game, some books a mousemat and a figure. Bargain.

But when I try to create an account for the game its asking me to pay even though the boxset I have bought should give me 30 free, is this normal?
Also the game appears to have been taken over by another company?

I have no idea if my money has been wasted and if I can even play.
 
Mythic have taken control of all Euro servers now i think. No more GoA, which is only a good thing. As for paying, some MMO's ask for your card details upon account creation to validate your account and also setup a monthly subscription.
In the past all i've done is add my card details then cancel the sub straight away so i'm never charged but have my 30 days.
 
The game is made by mythic, but until a few months ago was run by goa in Europe. It's now back in mythics hands and is better off for it so don't worry about that side of things.

Which website are you trying to set up your account from?
 
only way to pay for subs at the moment is a game time card from the EA store.
they didnt accpet british bankcards when i tried to resub 2 weeks ago.
 
Do they still accept the Time cards from the high street?
Im sure I saw some in HMV sale half price, maybe of use to OP if they still accept them
 
Hi thanks for the replies, have been using the only warhammer online site that i can find which is http://www.warhammeronline.com.

I've seen the time cards cheap in HMV but don't want to pay for time until i know i enjoy the game really.

So if I enter my credit card details will it take a payment straight away?
 
register the account and cd code that came with the box
log into the subscriptions section on the website
will say 30 days trial period or not.....
you will be billed after your free time ends.
you shouldnt even need a credit card to start playing.

It took my credit card the other night, although it's not really intuitive how to do it. Logged back into Karak Norn and the advice channel is destroyed with goldseller spam :(

Is that playing Order or Destruction?

As interested to know if Order are coping any better now free play has ended.

We (Order on Norn) were doing just fine during the free trial! Its still as close to "balanced" as you'll find in a pvp driven mmo
