ok i am interested in water cooling because i have a amd phenom 9850 black edition and it runs at 50c-55c when idoling and i want to overclock.( reason it runs so hott is my house is pretty warm). in order to not fry my cpu i need to bring that down.. ive looked around and im not really sure what the best way to go is...

id like to spend aaround 150-200 but if there all junk ill spend more..

Before spending £200 on watercooling, have you tried reseating the heatsink/getting a better one (you didn't mention what you're using). If you just want lower temps you may be able to get perfectly good temperatures with air-cooling and without the hassle - I guess it depends what you want to watercool for - temps/looks/quiet/like fiddling and spending time taking your pc and loop to bits....

im using the stock heatsink right now but my friend has the same processor as me and he has a after market heatsink (dont know the brand but its a good one) and when he comes to my house his temp is only 5-6 degrees less than mine.. the problems my house is warm!

and idk what cases have more airflow than the one i have right now.. but i love my case and dont really want to buy a new one

btw my reason for wc is i game a lot and want more performance outta my cpu.. thats why i bought the black edition cpu

thanks for the input guys and more ideas/rigs are appreciated

my house temp is aprox 72F .. the room im in might get to 75F during the day as i have a huge window next to me...

right now with only steam and this webpage open my cpu temp thru amd overdrive status monitor is 49c-50c

I'd try reseating your heatsink and then if the temperatures are still high consider water cooling - there's no need to spend £200 if you don't need to, and taking the heatsink off and putting it back on is far less hassle than putting together all the watercooing bits anyhow.

i dont think its that thou cause as i said my friend has the same cpu and his runs hot as hell at my house even with a better heatsink...

only way to get the temp down is to watercool..

Watercooling doesn't drop idle temps by much compared to decent air cooling. What are your load temps?

Save yourself £££ and turn the heating down.

Yes it does drop idle temps - not a lot but it does.Special GPU - I have 11 C less in idle and 36 in full load ;)

But CPU that's true it is only 4 C less in idle.

well i ran a amd overdrive benchmark for ten minutes and watched my temps... the hottest it got was 54.5c and it mostly stayed beetween 51c-53c
