Basically my eldest has moved rooms and the WiFi signal to his bedroom is now very weak for his PS4.

I've hooked up and old D-Link 615 running DDWRT as a wifi bridge which has helped but not perfect as the speeds he gets still isn't great.

So i was looking at going home plugs but my concern is it's need to be located via an extension due to limited space to run a passthrough home plug. Would this hinder the speeds to his room as i know from old these don't like being placed in an extension socket?!

any help would be appreciated.

I wouldn't expect one to work in any extension lead that has filtering. That means any surge-protector type ones.

If you can use a basic as possible extension with no extra components though I don't see why it wouldn't work.

I have run homeplugs through an extension cable, not ideal and you do see a performance hit. If it would help get a pass-through wall plug that the extension cable then plugs into and run a short wire or has a wireless AP in that pass through home-plug.

Just a note, but using WIFI to bridge, uses up half the speed of the wifi too!
Always best to go cable over WIFI in almost every job.
