Help with Win SMP

Yippee my WU from yesterday finally uploaded @ 7kB/s and the one for today is almost done. Thought I was gonna kiss goodbye to over 3000 points :D

Yep looks like things are settling down. My delayed WUs appear to have uploaded now. Just got to see what happens when another SMP gets to the end and hope it does continue normally.

Double disaster

Not only could my smp unit not upload in time - it killed the current one as well (187% in the bin  )

Does explain my lack of points over the weekend :(

Edit: set use internet setting back to 'yes' and it went first time (use IE 6 here btw) - looks at uncle F Grrrrrrr

Hmm, unless you are using some very exotic internet connection settings (like an autoconfiguring proxy that needs IE to run), then turning use IE settings off, should not break things. This has to be turned off with IE7, as the registry settings for internet connectivity just don't work anymore.

BTW, the wininet error you saw above was caused by wininet.dll, which is what IE uses to connect to the internet.

We do have a proxy server here - exotic? - enough that I can't directly borg it - but that doesn't mean I don't have it folding ;)

Due to certain clients it is configured in a non-standard way and I've always needed to use 'yes' for folding to work. If we swap to IE7 (therefore saying 'no') there's no way I've found to keep the farm active (resisting it currently as I'm CAD manager here)
So it's my fault for not telling you 'all' the information - Just needed to Grrrrr at someone this morning sorry Uncle.

What I can't figure out is how it downloaded the next unit - Never done that before on a 'no' setting - might be the batch file (wild guess)

As to the errors - no idea, that why I posted the log, so thanks for the info.

Do you know of anyone else that had a simular double loss?

Hehe.

The double loss was probably just coincidence, I doubt if the expiry of one WU would cause the death of another.

How exotic is your proxy config?
I take it you can't enter the IP, port, username and password?

Some background info though,

I used to use some corporate machines for folding, and the network was set up in such a way that IE used a special script to configure the proxy. This script was basically a set of rules to define which IP and port to use to connect to the proxy server. Everything was then authenticated using my domain username and password.

The way I got this to work was to pull apart the proxy script (you can grab it by copying the script location from the proxy config box into the address bar, which should download it, in theory). It may be written horribly, then again it may not, but you should be able to find some IP (or resolved hostnames in my case) - Port couples.
Then, try these address and port settings in the folding client, along with your domain username and password to authenticate.

You might also be able to find out the proxy setting by going to this site: http://www.proxyinfo.co.uk/check.php

I know all that information - but either it's really 'exotic' or I'm carp :p ;) :D
First time i loaded F@h at work I went throught all that (as sticky does talk about proxy setting) without any joy - but 'yes' worked so I left it at that.
Didn't enter a IP address mind....(you'll have to walk me through that - with me being unable to tell you what it is :D )

If we ever do make the switch I'll ask for help then - what's your moble number just in case ;)
