im guessing the file is actually missing, and ati have not compressed the exe correctly
i have also tryed other drivers with the same problem happing during the install which rules out the ati drivers

Could still be a problem within windows x64, or the driver not being 100% compatible atm.

Unsure, i have my first ati card at the moment on windows xp mce works fine, but i prefer nvidia cards so im selling it after a week of having it.

what card is it and how much?
i got a 9800 pro about 3 weeks ago second hand worked fine untill i bought a new case and then it knackerd so i am on the look out for a card

you think maybe a reinstall

No, just are these drivers tested an working on other systems. did you do a fresh install when fitting the card?

Always best to don fresh when installing a new video card or somthing.

My card is a 1900xtx - add me to msn if you like.

Hi

x64 Cats work OK & have for some while on newer cards ... old 9800 wouldnt even allow OS install but x1800xt had no problems with 5.12 , 5.13 & 6 series except i have problems updateing them .. wont allow uninstall and reinstall for some odd reason but drivers do work with X1** series cards

this is what has solved my problem working again ;)

Have you tried installing the driver via Device Manager? Click run, type devmgmt.msc and hit enter. Right click on your graphics card, located under "Display adapters" and choose update driver. Choose 'Install from or a specific location" and then "Don't search. I will choose the driver to install." Click "Have Disk" and browse to the location of unpacked 64-bit drivers and select the driver file.

This will install the drivers sans the control center (which may be causing your thunk.exe). You can use the superior ATI Tray Tools in place of the CCC.

That's what I was going to suggest - try downloading the drivers without the awful CCC

I've been running an X800Pro on x64 for over a year now and I've had no problems

The only issue I had with x64 is that my 9250 PCI card isn't officially supported! The drivers only support the 9550 and above - I simply installed the drivers via the Device manager and tricked windows into thinking that it's a 9550 and it's worked fine ever since!
