I've been using Media Portal for quite a while now, but I've now stuck Vista 64 on my HTPC and would like to start using Media Centre.

How the hell do I add codecs to it to be able to play my ripped MKV's & Xvids etc.

Ive tried looking around but there seems allsorts of ways to do it and I'm just looking of the easiest way to do it.

yup

some pc's don't like mkv's in 64bit, might be jerky, there's a few fixes to try though

They seem fine playing though Media Player Classic so hopefully I'll get the same result though WMC.

Thanks for the help buddy...!!

they only played fine through MPC for me, there were some workarounds, but basically until haali makes a 64bit decoder, it won't be 100% supported.

i read he is working on it.. with no ETA

i went back to 32bit HP

I could install 32bit Vista, would that sort the problem?

Its only a HTPC and only got 2gb of ram etc so Im not going to be losing any RAM usage. I only installed 64bit because I could.

Thank me later ;)

Old School XBMC (on the xbox)user went over to MP.
Then went to Vista MC purely because I wanted a new toy to play with.

Back to XBMC now and OMG it's amazing!!
Just ned to get the Myth TV playback working!

Yeah I had XBMC on my old Xbox and its still the best thing around I agree.

The current beta of XBMC doesn't work with my Media Centre Remote which is a damn shame and rules it out for me...
