Just moved into a new place. The router is on the ground floor at the back of the house, my room is at the top (third floor) at the front of the house. I dont receive any kind of signal from the router downstairs.

I have a socket in my room for the same phone line the router is connected to down stairs, can I set up another router in my room with the same settings as the one downstairs and get a connection that way??

If not, any advice about how I can get a signal would be much appreciated.

At the moment we're connected with AOL.

Thanks

Just thought I would give everyone a little update on the Netgear XAVB2501 Powerlines.

Without a doubt well worth every penny!!

They were really simple to set up, just plug them into them mains and run a ethernet cable from the router to the and they wore without having to set anything up.

The connection speed is slighlty slower then if I were using a ethernet cable directly from the router. As an example I have now upgraded to Virgin 50mb broadband, I normally receive 46mb from a cable running directly from router, upstairs with the Powerlines I get between 40mb - 43mb.

I really dont think I will ever want to use wifi again now I have these. Even if I go to a different room in the house, I can just plug the receiver in and it works flawlessly.
