hi guys wonder if you can help me

the lad has downloaded the trial verion of the first wow and enjoyed it and it said upgrade to a direct online upgrade for 9.99

so we did this and it has unlocked the chat feature but account still says pending.

the account is also still in the trial period what we cant seem to find out now is does he have the full wow game now or not and what was this 9.99 for

does he need to go and buy the game and enter the cd key or is it best to wait until the pending status changes ?

it takes a while to change sometimes upto 72 hours but he should still be able to do everything that you can with the full game.

It takes a while to process, but he should now have access to everything, you also dont need to shout, and could have used one of the DOZENs of threads already out there about the game.

thanks murray and sorry about caps i forgot.

when we goto his battle net account it shows he can upgrade to burning crusade and enter cd key it use to say the same about wow classic.

so we do have the full game then ?

he has now ordered burning crusade so when that comes do we just enter the cd key or do we have to install the game which may prove hard on a lappy with no cd drive lol

You can download all the games so don't worry about installing a disc :)

His account (as said) has been upgraded, just takes a while to do this on his Battle.net account.

What level is he? Until he hits near max level there's not much point getting the expansion packs (as they can in total be expensive coupled with the monthly fee) :)

thanks for the rely tummy he is level 20 at min end of trial

he is worried that he needs the wow game retail or digital download to continue or is the fact he has just paid 9.99 to upgrade enough will he have to download anything extra, basically he then he now has the full wow game and does not need to download it or buy the retail for the cd key.

he picked up the burning crusade as he managed to get it cheap in the sales when it comes can he download it then from battlenet and just use the cd key that comes with the disc

i very much appriciate you taking the time mate to help me on boxing day very kind of you sir :)

He shouldn't be worried, the expansion packs give him extra content once he's done / reached max level (so not until he's nearly level 60 will he need to add the burning crusade imho).

You can download the games (or it should auto update, I'm not sure as my latest format / install I just threw my Cataclysm disc in :o) from / through his battle.net account :)

Also, when the launcher is open go in to > options > download options and turn OFF P2P :) makes updating much quicker :)

No problemo, email in trust if you or him has anything to ask your not wanting to post on here. Played since release and still play now :)

He should be okay to keep playing and enjoying the content / levels :)

BTW, what's he playing? Race / Class ect? :)

if you go on to battlenet you just have to enter the cd key and it will upgrade for you then when you start wow will ask you to download some stuff, Atleast thats what it did when i upgraded to Cataclysm.

That's smiley-tastic posting there, Lushy :D

I didn't have much issue with p2p when I reinstalled recently, but then I've got a mask for p2p traffic to stop BT helpfully shaping it for me. If you're getting less than ideal speeds, you can turn it off.

The Burning Crusade expansion only unlocks the Draenei (Alliance, squid monsters with hooves) and Blood Elf (Horde's foray into sexual expressionism) races and the content played through from lvs 60 - 70, so if your kid's happy with the race he's playing at the moment, there's no need to wait. If you load up the config.wtf and launcher.wtf that you can find in the main installation directory, you can edit the account type to CT, it should download all the content you'll ever need - the newer features will be on your system, and when you get round to buying each expansion you can just enter the code into your battle.net account to upgrade it and unlock the content.

deadbeat sorry to sound such a noob but can you expand on the config.wtf and launcher.wtf

thanks very much guys

if he gets into it ill dig out an old desktop i have in the cupboard its a micro system and just needs a new h/d but i think it will play it better

xp3200 proccy
2 gig ram
geforce 4 gfx onboard

No worries, you need to find your World of Warcraft installation folder. Mine is set to c:\Games\World of Warcraft, but yours might default to the program files directory. If you have trouble finding it, right-click on any WoW shortcut you have on your desktop or start menu and select properties - this will show you where the shortcut target leads, which is your main game directory. In that folder, there's another folder called WTF, and inside this folder will be the two files mentioned above - Launcher.wtf and Config.wtf, which you can open one at a time. If it prompts you with which program you want to open it with, select Notepad. Once the first of the files is open, look for the line that says:

SET accounttype "XX"

Now, I'm not sure what the original vanilla (valilla is WoW without any of the expansions) letters are, but whatever's in the quotation marks ("XX") change to CT ("CT"). Close this file, saving any changes, and load up the second file mentioned earlier. You have to change the line in both Config and Launcher wtf files and make sure you save the changes. Then, in the main directory, run Launcher.exe - if it starts downloading a patch, you've done it right.

well he is now level 21 so it must just be taking a while to sort out at battle net as trial only allows level 20

i will try that ct thing deadbeat when the time gets nearer i may need to come back to you about it lol
