So I'm buying the 5900x (hopefully tomorrow) and I'm going to get the Asus Strix E or Crossair x570 motherboard ready for big Navi.

My question is, on AMD website it says you need to update bios for 5000 CPU which should be applied before installing the new processor. Can this be done on a fresh build? as in done from bios with USB without using an old CPU?

Noob question as I've not had AMD since 8350

All properly designed motherboards have low level hardware routine for flashing BIOS without CPU or any other part needed for booting machine:

And forget brand hype overpriced boards, unless you're raising cattle by feeding them banknotes.
They don't make CPU any faster or longer good staying.

MSI X570 Tomahawk has basically anything needed with literally off the charts bat crazy overkill VRM.

Besides Asus has X570 chipset coolers straight from anus of brand hype marketroids:
Actual heatsink under marketing excrements is small.
And relies on constant airflow from constantly running fan constricted by more marketing excrement.
With whole crud put in to worst place directly under graphics card to be bathed in its heat.
So put there high end GPU and chipset will warm up fast in gaming sessions.
And should be easy to guess what happens when/if chipset fan wears out.

For comparison Gigabyte and MSI have properly designed X570 chipset coolers with good size heatsink farther from heat of graphics card and capable to mostly passive cooling.
