Last night during playing the division my pc froze up#

Since then when I boot into windows I just get a black screen

I'm using a sapphire 290 tri-x

It get to loading windows screen fine on the display then once in windows goes black.

Ive uninstalled drivers and tried the latest crimson ones still the same. Ive even uninstalled amd drivers completely and its still the same

Works fine on my display port using the msi mobo onboard gfx

Many things can be wrong, including the PSU been a gonner.
Do you have spare any other PSU around?

Try changing slot for the gpu, changing the port. Sounds like potentially the card died which sucks but it happens. However could be pci-e slot, could be the output on the card. If your monitor(or any other screen available) has an alternative input, dvi/hdmi, try that as maybe the display port died.

I honestly can't remember and I have 2 x 290s, was it these that have the bios switch for the uber and non uber bioses or was that 79xx cards. If so, maybe the bios went, switch it over and see if that works.

EDIT:- could potentially be PSU but in my experience they are more likely to go pop completely than work a little. A PSU surge could have killed something on the mobo, pci-e slot, gpu, something.

either that or it knocked it out of some weird loop
id still DDU and try it back in 1st slot after

Uninstall the drivers then install any catalyst driver instead of an omega driver.

Alternatively, remove any program you use to overclock your gpu, and don't overclock your gpu until amd fix their drivers

It sounds like same problem i had with my 290x. Do you overclock your 290? If so the crimson drivers hate 3rd party software that overclocks the cards.

Yeah was running 1200/1650

I never resolved my issue I just rolled back to pre Crimson drivers which wasnt exactly a solution. Others seem to just overclock thier cards manually each time they boot into Windows. Either way thy need to sort Crimson to allow overclocking again via 3Rd party tools

make sure nothing antivirus or firewall isnt blocking anything on load up also.

seen this before on certain software blocking part of amd driver stuff.
