OK I have very little experience of OCing and I think I may need a different mobo to do it properly. I'll shut up and get to the gear :D

MB: Falal1ty fp-in9 sli c55-mcp51 (nForce 650i SLI SPP)
CPU: Intel core Duo E4500 Conroe (2.2ghz)
Bios: Phoenix Technologies v6.00 (2007)
RAM: Corsair CM2X2048-64500C5 x 2 (400mhz)
RAM: Corsair CM2X1024-6400C5DHX x 2 (400mhz)
GPU: ASUS EAH3450 Series 256mb
OS: Win XP Pro SP3

I'm not a game player so my main reasons for wanting to optimise performance/speed is that I generate very high resolution fractal images and use Adobe Lightroom to manage my digital photographs. LR seems sluggish and rendering high-res fractals can take a long time, depending on the complexity.

I am not without a budget for a new mobo if that is the main problem (I read on here that it is not really suited to OCing). Ideally I would stick with the gear I have.

Any suggestions?

:p

Update the BIOS to start with, all the latest drivers. Get hold of CPUZ and temp programe then start from there. Does the BIOS give you any auto setting or CPU up sorta thing

Thanks for your reply....
I tried to locate the BIOS update download using google but although I found the Phoenix website, the BIOS updates are done through a paid for service. I'm really not that desperate. Unless someone knows a more straightforward and free way of updating this?

The current version has options for clocking of things.

I already have CPU-Z and it looks very useful.
