In the last few days ive started to get errors in applications and them quiting to the desktop and an error message saying something that the memory could not be "read". The only programs ive had it happen in are Firefox and Oblivion. It could happen in other but they are the ones i use most.

I decided to use the memtest86 thing thats on my DFI mobo and i get 5 errors after the first time through. Ive never used memtest before and the pass % went back to 0 so did it start testing again or should i have just left it?

Anyway here is the error i get with oblivion

I have 2gb of GeIL Value (2x1gb sticks) not overclocked my system at all. Its been running fine since Feb until ths last weekend.

After doing so searching around the old interweb it seems that this problem is universal within 2000/XP/NT for thousands of users. a lot of them say its not a hardware issue and that their memory passes memtest with no errors. a lot of people are offering different fixes from uninstalling recently installed programs to see which one conflicts right through to deleting the java runtime files.

I recomend having a read good through this thread to see if that can help you.

Ive managed to get my Oblivion and my system running fine again without this memory error but my memory still comes up with errors in memtest. Ive never done a memtest until now and my system has ran fine. Should i send it back for replacement? How would i go about this? How long would it take?

Help would be grately appreciated!
