hello guys i got a prob with my case
DSCN0284.jpg

this is causing heat problems with motherboard/cpu and graphics card
any sugestions bar chaging the case, for wich i cant do atm, when i do change it, i want to get a cube case, not one of the small factor shuttle type cases, but a larger one.
please help, my pc keeps restarting, i know its becuse the graphics card and hd are touching wich is causing a heat spot, the case is a chieftech Hi-Fi Black DX-01BD-U, motherboard is a ecs pf5 extreme, the cpu is a prescot intell p4 [email protected],the graphics card is a xfx geforce 6800 gt, 1.5gb of ddr2 667 crucial value ram, (dont laugh its all i could afford, lol) the ambiant case temps is 45 the cpu is around 58, i bought a new cpu cooler the freezer 7 pro to try and cool it down a bit, the temps for the graphics card is 115, btw i have never overclcoked anything,

The temps are not that bad, are you sure it's heat thats causing the restart?

Advice get an arctic cooler for the gpu, if you have any 5.25 bays spare suspend your hard drives in them
isnt the heat for the graphics a bit high ??, the graphics card has been sent of for a test, came back with nps, now a right pain in the butt, i cant even play games anymore, once a day, i get a msg form the nvidia drivers saying that the graphics card temps are to high and that it has had to restrict the graphics card ect blah blah. so its defo pointing to the graphics card........

Just to under its mountings.

The graphics card is very high, and as the core is in the center of the card is is extremely unlikely to be the cause.

My money is on the thermal paste / pads being duff. Try re-seating the cooler on the card.
how can i resit it its under guantee still, it would surely invaladate it?? i bought it of overclcokers, they did a quick test of the card, for another prob i have jsut posted about in graphics cards section, not sure they would have the card again!!!

i see where you mean now, but its not possible, the hd cage is cooled by a 80cm fan to cool them down , as you guys know hds can give out quite a bit of heat too........

wouldent the fan infront of the hd be blowing the hot air from the hd over your gc?.
well yes that thought did ocure to me yes, i have instaleld a xhaust fan under the graphics card to vent the heat out, dont knwo if this is helping or not it was less than a fiver so i thought i would try it

The cooling is getting overcomplicated in there now.

Its something ON the graphics card, nothing case related really.

If you wish to eliminate the HDDs as I said, just remove the caddy and place on the bottom of the case.
hehe you dont live to far away from me, i live in hereford, lol, anyhow, putting the hd cage on the floor wouldnt solve anything i could see, as i woudl have to remove the fan of the hd cage for one, then i would have to take out the case fan wich is sucking air, at the bottom
