Im thinking about a retro car when i finish uni a few years down the line, like a mark 1 escort that i can restore and do up real nice.

Yup - Vauxhall XE.
The thing about mk1/2 Escorts is that they are VERY expensive.
You can get something better/faster/better-handling for a lot less.
Unfortunately, proboards appears to have gone nipples-skywards so the www.retro-rides.com forum isn't accessable at the moment.
