Help!

I bought a DVD writer today: LG HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GH22NS40
I am using os windows xp 64bit and it pick's the drive up ok but when i put a blank DVD into it it appears as CD-rom and i can't do anything with it.
Has anyone had any experience of this or know anything i can do?

Try deleting it in device mangaer and rebooting the pc.

Not sure but you could check to see if needs drivers for XP 64.
