Hi people,
ive just finished building my first pc, im all ready to install Windows 7 but when i start the pc with the disk in it gets no further than a black screen with the message "Loading Operating System..." i think it may be a problem with the bios but im completely at a loss :(
Any ideas??
Both my hdd and cdrom drive are connected by sata cables and both are reconised in the bios.

Cheers,
Rob

Just to clarify..You're trying to install windows 7, and when having signalled to boot from the DVD it just gets stuck with the message "loading operating system..."?
(isnt there a loading bar at the bottom?)

This would be my check list:-

1. Check HDD & DVDROM are properly plugged in (does BIOS detect them?)
2. Check CPU Heatsink to ensure it's not overheating (does your bios indicate temp?)
3. Reseat all components or remove as many as possible to give you the bare minimum to start the system.

Thanks for the fast responses:
1. Both the HDD and DVD drive are plugged in correctly and reconised, the dvd drive is located at IDE channel 0 master and the hdd is located at IDE channel 1 master
2. CPU is currently running at 27C so im assuming thats ok,
3. Tried to boot system only with cpu memory hdd and dvd drive however could not get a signal on my monitor so i guess the graphics card is working fine too as i get a signal when its connected.
Any other suggestions??

Maybe a problem with your installation media? Try it in another machine, see if you can at least get it to load setup..

Is it official media or a burned image?

well ive sorted the problem, i aquired a copy of XP and it booted from cd straight away. upon closer inspection of the OS ive got its an OEM system builder pack, i have no idea what this means but id didnt want to load from the disk. Does anyone know how I install this type of windows? and maybe even explain how its any different to other types of windows? thanks
