got a sony vaio VGN-CS31S here. is has Nvidia 9300M GS and now everytime you go to open a basic windows game (minesweep, solitaire etc) i get a 'Hardware acceleration is either disabled or not supported by your video card driver, which could slow game performance.....' error message. close it and the game runs fine. this didnt used to happen, so what can i do to fix it, or atleast stop the message appearing every time?

ok steps taken so far :
updated driver
rolled back driver (and fresh installed older driver)
installed directx sdk and disabled hardware acceleration
uninstalled driver so running on windows standard vga adaptor

none of these rectify the problem

Does everything run fine when testing DirectDraw and 3d?

What are the temps like?

ok, thats what i get for assuming it all looked ok without paying a lot of attention. the test buttons aint there

oh and D3D is disable, doh. was reading soo much on how to fix it on the net i didnt really look properly. so how do i fix it if the dxdiag is giving these errors.

Are the DirectDraw & Direct3D Enabled?

Might be worth another install of the drivers

the D3D isnt enabled no

i have uninstalled and reinstalled several versions of the driver and the problem has always been there

could windows be corrupt? is driversweeper worth a shot?

I would deffo, as anything is better than what you have now.

looking like a fresh install. or should a windows restore to earlier date fix it?

Which operating system are you running? I remember that in XP one can quite easily turn hardware acceleration off with a slider.

Nothing changed in the Bios recently?

vista. the option to get to the slider is ghosted out.
the problems with dxdiag though puzzle me, as i just checked on my samsung laptop which works fine, and those options are missing too.

well restoring to an earlier date didnt fix it either

looks like something is proper messed up.
