I'm building my pc but when I press the power button on the mother board, everything lights up but then switched off half a second later. All the lights on the motherboard light up. The fans spin but it doesn't boot.

Help!

Specs?

Are all the power cables attached?

CPU cooler attached properly?

Memory fully into slots?

Reset Cmos.

See if it will boot out of the case. It may be that you haven't got the standoffs in the right places, so that the board is shorting out.

I've had this happen twice. It was the PSU both times.

No guarantees it will definitely be the PSU in your case, of course, but have you got a PSU tester? Or a spare PSU you can try?

I'd try the above suggestions first anyway, but if I were a betting man I'd lay a tenner on PSU being the culprit.

it was the CMOS. is shorted the pins next to it to reset it and that fixed it :)

thank for all your help guys :)

i just got all my drivers installed an im up and running :)
