So came down this morning to Skype the kids and no power !
No lights, no fans, nothing than the glow of the on/off button built into the mobo. Not that that does anything either !
PSU does spin up out of the case with the paper clip test, but is completely unresponsive when plugged into anything.

I think it's an RMA on a nearly new PSU. Have I missed anything ?

Reseat all the cables e.g. 24pin, 4/8pin ATX. Try a clear CMOS (take the motherboard battery out for about 15 minutes) and then replace it

What are your full specs? PC in your signature?

Try taking the GFX card out and running on integrated graphics also, and try one stick of your RAM there

Yes, per the sig. Have reseated all cables no luck.
Would a bad component prevent it even powering up ? I can see a failure to post but the fans should still spin up or at least twitch

Hmm yeah, but my brother did have some faulty ram and that only span fans for about 2 seconds

Have you tried the CMOS clear? It does sound like PSU though

No luck with CMOS. I think the PSU has had it.
Very odd. No symptoms, no sparks, flashes or anything. Just no power in the morning...

just to make sure do you have a spare power cable for the PSU? might be something as simple as this if all the cables etc have been checked

Thanks, but yes I have swapped the cable too. I can't understand it.
There should be at least a twitch of the fans with a dud CMOS or component.

Woohoo !
Left the CMOS battery out for a few hours, completely rebuilt the box and...volia !
(I have no idea what the issue was)

Thanks to everyone for their friendly advice.

Arrrrgh it's doing it again !
Running fine last night. Nothing this morning.
Pressing CMOS clear causes the LEDs and fans to twitch but that's all. Other wise it's dead.

Anyone got any ideas ?

is that still using the on board GPU?

if it now boots using the on board GPU try with all the memory sticks in and if it still boots then try putting back in the GPU and give it another try with the GPU in again and see if it still boots or fails
