Hi everyone,

Hope someone can help, I think I've broken my laptop! :(

I have an msi gx660r and I was in the bios and found an option to switch the graphics output from pcie to 'switchable graphics'. I was wondering if I was able to switch to integrated graphics to save battery.

Anyway it seems to have backfired because on restart I now have a blank screen. When I press the power button, it and the sleep 'moon' lights up and the hard drive light flashes a few times but then nothing, just sits there with the power button and moon lit up. The fan spins up too.

Any ideas!? I really need to fix this, have important stuff on there!

Thanks

Tried resetting the bios by pulling the cmos battery for a few minutes but no luck, still the same.
Also tried hooking up to an external monitor, no go.
I don't think it's the display as the hdd activity light just flashes a few times then nothing, if it was loading Windows but just with no display it would be flashing a lot more for a lot longer I guess.

I feel it's something at bios level or I have knackered a component as its moments after the power button is pressed that it just hangs.

Could changing to 'switchable graphics' when it wasn't supposed to be have fried the dedicated gpu or perhaps the Intel integrated graphics on the cpu?

Yeh pressed the power button with the cmos battery out to make sure all power was drained.

Have left it in a no battery, no cmos battery state for over a week now, just tried it again and still the same.

It's deffinately to do with me changing to 'swichable graphics' in the bios. All was fine for years before then I changed that, rebooted and boom nothing!
