helped an old granny

seen some old lady in town struggling with her asda bags so i offered to carry them home (thinking it would be 100 meter job) but no it was more like a mile

she even offered me 2 pound coin as a reward but i declined

anyone done this and been offered a tip? have i discovered a serious moneymaking market?

my firm was putting conduit for lighting in a lift shaft, helped this old girl with her shopping up the stairs, she lived on the 4th floor. she offerd a quid tip in her own words "buy some sweeties for later" considering my age i got the **** takern out of me on that site for a while.

A while back an old lady got off a bus in front of me, and because she'd been using one hand to steady herself with the handrails, all her shopping was in her other hand.

Problem was it was too heavy and she keeled over sideways. After I ran up to make sure she was ok, we both burst out laughing at the comedy of it, and I carried her stuff the short distance to her house.

Still chuckle at the memory.

I was once being picked up from work by my big brother and I opened the car door without looking and hit an old granny straight on :(

Still we gave her a lift home because unknowingly to her, her daughter had sold her car that day without telling her as she thought she was too old to drive, which is fair enough but she didn't giver her any other way of getting home  and it was 3 miles to her home.

Still it was good hearing her stories and she was very thankful when we dropped her off. :) Felt pretty good helping a random person out who wasn't a chav asking for 30p for the "bus"

Haha, a guy asked me for bus money the other day, and then muttered something rude when I pointed out that he was at the wrong end of town for the bus station and walking in the opposite direction.

On topic, helping old people is nice - as is helping people in general! I try to do it whenever I get the chance.

lol something like that happened in bristol, though I was but an onlooker :p

A chavvy crackwhore of a girl came up to this man, asking him to swap 2 50ps for a £1. Your man obliged and obviously she walked of with the coin

Next thing I knew, this seemenly gentle man head butted her in the face , bent down while she was spraying blood and took her money as well.

I laughed my ****** ass off, when he was out of earshot. I went to help the girl and do you know what she said??? "do you have any change for the bus"

I feel sorry for Sam now, he can't make a serious thread anymore without it being turned into an [attractive] thread :p

Some old people do. I know a chap in his 70s who uses bit torrent :p. Don't ask what he downloads, you don't want to know.

I know this guy who is 90 years old, and he makes Flash animations for part of his job (which he still does). :p

It is amazing. (He got his first computer when he was 80 :p).

I am too one who helps out old people. I lived with my Gran from the age of 6ish to 17. I alwasy feel for the older generation. I am also suprised by the amount of people on here who help them out.

TBH they are too trusting. How easy is it to do some horrible stuff to an elderly person. Jesus. i could have took loads of cash from random people today, but in my nature thats not what I do.

I think the best thing to do. Given you ahve time for it. Help some one out, decline thier payment (£1,£2 etc) get to know them and give out your mumber. They could call you when they are in real need and you could be quids in. Think Insurance.;)

Youa re helping them out and they Would/could help you out later in life.

Helped an old man recently who had dropped his bag on the floor and couldn't bend down so kept trying to pick it up with his stick. I saw it from a way off and saw several people walk by without noticing

I helped an old guy cross the road once.

He was an old indian fellow and was literally crawling across the road (a busy one, too), never in a million years could I have walked on past. He could walk, after a fashion, I just think he was scared of falling in the road. Sad, really :(

Old guys eh..

I did help this old man once. There are several nursing homes nearby my house, and as I was walking down the road (with my Gran :p) we saw a man who was sat down on the ground across the road, with another man near him (both were elderly). The man had fallen down, and he couldn't get up (it was quite sad really; I can't imagine how annoyed I would be if it were me [the lack of dignity, etc.]). We asked him whether he needed some help, and he said he did. I took hold of his arm (and my Gran took hold of his other arm), and we lifted him to his feet. He wasn't very stable, so my Gran went down the road to one of the nursing homes to ask for a wheelchair. I helped the man along the pavement, making sure he didn't fall down. Thankfully the nursing home came with a wheelchair, and he turned out to be one of the residents that they were looking for.

I felt like I had done a good deed, and I would hope that someone would help me if I were in a similar situation.
