Hey everyone in January I will be selling my current specs to my friend (specs as seen below) this means the motherboard, case, cpu, ram and gfx card. I was just wondering if when my firend installs his HDD and other such devices there wont be any conflicts. I just want to be able to swap his PSU over, stick his old HDD in with as little trouble as possible. Is it very complicated changing these components over or will he have to reformat?

Thanks Everyone

P.S - This question is also very useful for me as I will be buying a new mobo, cpu and ram and would like to keep all my material that is on my hard drive too.

Aslong as his PSU's atx2.0 then you will be fine for that.
HD is another issue though, you can try, might boot up, might not, just luck I always seem to find.

A re-install of Windows is always recommended when completely changing systems. Could try removing the chipset/graphics drivers from your mates Windows install and swapping the HD's I guess...

I have not long ago changed from a NF4 754 motherboard to a NF4 939 motherboard. I tried doing it as a straight swap but had problems as it still wanted to reinstall all the drivers. I swapped them back over and removed all the drivers with driver cleaner and swapped them back again. This time all the devices were detected and drivers installed as usual. However, XP threw all it's teddies out of the cot and demanded i reactivated it. Of course this failed so i had to phone them to activate. They gave me a new code with no problems and no questions asked. I have now had this OEM version of XP since a AMD XP2000 rig through half a dozen rebuilds/upgrades so i guess i have been lucky. It's only been on the one pc at a time though.
