I calculated the miles per gallon on the girlie's series 1 Scenic. It did 239 miles on 26 litres which comes out at 41 mpg. That was mainly motorway work at about 80mph with about 10 miles of town driving. I reckon that's pretty damn good for a 2 litre auto, why would you buy one with a smaller engine if that one goes so good?

Even if I'm out by a whole gallon it's still above 35mpg. What does everyone else get?

On Motorway miles like that? 36-37mpg from a 3 litre manual.

If it's a half decent autobox it'll lock the torque converter at cruising speeds and not be any less economical than the manual.

I'm surprised how good it is around town, but it is fuel injected and I'm used to old cars with carbs that suck juice when around town :D

But then again, you are the only 530i doing 50 mph between lorries in "slow lane" we know of. ;)

I dont drive like that, really!

Infact I'm off to Yorkshire on Tuesday so I'm sure you'll all be thoroughly thrilled to find out what I can manage and how long it takes :p

I can't wait for your report Fox ;) :p

Still amazed at how you manage to be so restrained whilst driving to get such good consumption.

I usually get 36mpg on my poverty spec 1.4 Petrol Scenic, majority of time short 3.5 mile back and forth to work through the week. Rises to around 40mpg when I do a lot of motorway driving.
