An intermittent fault.

I have a a Corsair 650D Case, a Corsair HX1000 PSU and a Gigabyte mobo.

Every now and again, I will go to power on the system and press the button.

The button will light up for a second or so, and then go off. The button will no longer respond until the PSU is turned off / power cord pulled for 10 seconds or so.

The PC will then boot up and perform fine, for a week or two until it does it again...

A weird one, but where do you guys think that the fault may be?

My gut says mobo.

Ideas please?

Case power switch connection? Just a thought, I had this problem not that long ago which is why your situation made me think of mine. Something to rule out anyway. :)

I thought that at first too. But after isolating the PSU for 10 secs it works fine for a while.

It is weird though, thats why I thought that I would throw the question to all you guys n gals :)

I will be 'borrowing' some compressed air to clear some dust tomorrow so will pay particular attention to the power switch.

If it's fine after pulling out the power cord could it be the PSU itself? Try switching the PSU out for another one and see if it still happens.
