My pacemaker interferes with my sister's baby monitor. I am no expert, but I thought things that only sent signals could do that.![]()
New pacemakers connect wirelessly and are also firewalled after a proof of concept showed how naughty people could have 'fun' with them.
Start to worry when your sister's baby monitor interferes with your pacemaker.
I'd imagine that by design your pacemaker sends pulses to your heart muscles, this would also cause electromagnetic radiation, hence interference from the monitor.
A lot of pacemakers now have the ability to transmit information - yours in most likely one of these models. And as already stated a basic one could produce the interference anyway. I find that concerning. What is there to stop a malicious programmer from creating a virus that targets pacemakers?
