Well.. I watched the video and it sounded a very good explorer. So i donwloaded the new beta version of it

I was shocked to find it was twice as slow as IE 7 and i got this nice little message after viewing 4 websites:

Safari.jpg

So whats your thoughts? Im not too impressed and yes i know its only a Beta .. But still.. I think Apple should stick to what they know.

...

Mines crashed twice and majorly slowed down twice (bookmarks etc. slowed down). But as said above, it is beta after all :)

Soon we'll have Applows or Windows Applista or something :p

Or even Applosoft or Microapple << that's a good one :p

So people using Windows can make sure they have full compatibility with "applications" developed for iPhone?

it's going to appeal to ipod/itunes users who don't realise other browsers exist apart from internet explorer. it's not going to get many opera/firefox users switching over. :)

i guess it will handy for developers too if it renders the same as safari on the mac?

For some reason it fails to render any text at all (including on the menu bars) for me so is a bit useless.

Shame really - it's supposed to render pages faster than firefox

Safari isnt going to kick off on windows... bit of a dead end street, not sure why they are even bothered tbh

to make a point i suspect.

just like all those "Hi im a PC, And im a MAC"

"we have a lot a lot in common, we both run microsoft office"

Okay lets see how many of my running applications run on mac

MySQL server - no idea, but i guess not
Apache Server - no idea, but i guess not
RevConnect - no idea, but i guess not
MSN Messenger - no idea
Last.FM - no idea, but i guess not
Norton Ghost - no idea, but i guess not
Mdaemon - no idea, but i guess not
Gmail Notifier - think theres a mac version
Firefox - yeah
Windows Media Player - no idea, but i guess not

And i wouldnt want to live without a single one - and i wouldnt want to use an alternative (else i would be using it now!)

sorry - those adverts just piff me off. i resent being called a moronic idiot for using a windows box, and i hate the suggestions i cant possibly have a life without iLife!

grr! lol

and besides. this computer cost me <£100. find me a mac that has a gig of rambus. 2ghz cpu and 320gb of hdd space for that.

*wanders on a tagent*

MySQL server - no idea, but i guess not Comes pre-installed on OS X Server, available for regular OS X
Apache Server - no idea, but i guess not Comes pre-installed on OS X
MSN Messenger - no idea Microsoft have made an official client but it sucks just like the Windows one does. Adium is much better. Comes with iChat which is for AIM.
Norton Ghost - no idea, but i guess not Largely replaced by the Disk Utility
:)

You noticed it though, and remembered it enough to talk / complain about it? It worked.

damn! lol. i must admit it is very witty and clever. and i like the idea.

but

I'm not a windows fan boy as such - but i just prefer it.. a lot and its a little frustrating, because i suppose, they are kinda right.

I think i would feel better if Microsoft launched a similar campaign :P

Have you ever used one (a Mac) before?

I used to be of the same mindset, but I took a bit of a gamble (financially as well as...well, the normal gamble), got a MacBook Pro and it totally changed my opinion of them.

They're a beautiful and well thought out machine - inside (software) and out (hardware/design).

I can't help but think the mentality of the Mac users (I'm ranting about this elsewhere, too) on top of what I see, as light hearted ads, are warping your opinion or preview.

Yeah, sounds cool.

I have used a mac. but i use the word "used" loosely - ive literally played around in photoshop on a mac and explored the hard drive while i was on it - thats literally it.

what i really should have said instead of "prefer windows" is. i dont have any problems with windows xp and i find it hard to believe there is anything better/more suitable for my needs.

However - i too try and keep an open mind set - so although i cant afford to take a gamble on a mac just yet i will definitely look around for any excuse to use one for a prolonged period of time.

One thing that does worry me is the cost of the things, you can knock up a fine web browsing/music windows box for £200 but not so on mac (well not if you want a new one).

How can you do that when a Windows license is £50 at least for an OEM XP Home? Not counting second hand either, because you could get a web browsing / music playing Mac second hand for that sort of money.

because i have carp loads of VLK's? :p what i ment is I could build a rig for £200. and even then it is still possible to do it for £200 even if you do gotta buy a licence.

I think Safari for Windows is a pile of

but I like the cut of Apple's jib:

Leopard Pricing

11:07 am: Basic Version = $129
11:07 am: Premium Version = $129 ;)
11:07 am: Leopard shipping in October. Basic version, $129. Premium version, $129. Business version, $129, Enterprise version $129. Ultimate version, $129.
11:07 am: crowd goes wild
11:08 am: "it's all the same... most people are gonna buy the ultimate version :)
