Heres something nobody has asked (haha).

That just isn't true. Mainstream cards have always been popular for the reason that they balance performance, visuals and price. I can't speak for the others but the 1060 does that just fine. If I was having to drop resolution and visual settings just to get an acceptable, playable framerate then I'd wholly agree, but I'm not. 1920x1200, mostly high settings, 60fps in most games. Perfect.
The 1060 is a few percent better, but the 480 doesn't sustain 60FPS in modern games at 1080p. Just google "rx 480 40fps" for a bazillion results in a variety of games where the 480 can't do 60 FPS.

I guess some people's expectations are lower than mine. I expect a mid-range card to do 60FPS min at 1080p on high settings (not ultra). In mine and other's experience, the 480 does not deliver this. The 1060 is only, what, 10% more powerful?

Some examples:
GTA5
Battlefield 1
Mass Effect
Fallout 4
PUBG

480 can't do 60 FPS in any of these.

You could argue specs and prices all day long. I tend to spend most of my time gaming on my PC even though I have an xbox1, PS4 and a switch. Mainly I just prefer the games on PC as many don't get ported across to console and generally pc is always the cheapest multi platform option.

Most of the games I regularly play recently are just better suited to PC though IMO (elite dangerous, xcom2, PUBG). I guess it depends what games you want to play and what your friends or significant others play.

If your cant decide then probably better to get the Xbox though as it'll be the cheaper option overall and your can easily sell it in future if your ever want to upgrade your PC without much of a hit.

For me the only thing stopping me swapping to my Xbox One full time for gaming is playing MMORPG's... i have ESO on both the PC and Xbox and while the Xbox version looks awesome, its just easier to play with KB / Mouse on the PC, if Microsoft allow the use of KB / Mouse on the Xbox as rumored, that would solve this issue... would just need Blizzard to port WoW across ;) and Pantheon to get released on the Xbox and i would probably kiss my PC goodbye lol. Even my favourite ARPG - Grim Dawn, is getting an Xbox release i believe, POE already on the Xbox as well.

Im at the point where im going to chop my Xbox in for the Xbox1, as it will look better on my 4K TV and also regular Xbone games get a performance boost i believe?

So for me the only thing stopping me ditching PC gaming for Xbox is availability of certain games and use of Keyboard / Mouse.

The other thing which would push me towards the Xbox is that it's been ages since we've seen any new cards from Nvidia and the current 10 series generation is nearly 18 months old. It's a pretty safe bet we'll see a new generation of green team gaming cards this year at some point so now doesn't feel like a great time to upgrade IMO.

Though given AMDs latest Vega cards seem mediocre they may not be in a rush to release anything.

You're quoting some CPU-bound games there and I have seen with my own eyes that some games where RX480 doesn't hit 60fps, the GPU isn't even running at 100%. One example was Ghost Recon Wildlands. Idk if it was ever fixed, but the GPU usage was *insert rude word here*. I remember me and my brother playing the beta, my on my 970, which is a GPU on par with the 480. I got 90+% GPU utilisation and managed to hit 60fps after fiddling with settings, while my brother was stuck at 30-40 with average GPU utilisation of 60%, regardless of settings.

Of course, nowadays the games are getting a bit more graphical and the older GPUs aren't enough for 1080p60 anymore. To an extent however, it all depends on how each game is coded. Games like Doom and Battlefront run well over 60fps.

Never played those so I can't personally comment. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to make out like it's an incredible powerhouse of a card and I'm well aware it won't always deliver the same performance across the board, but in general it does very well. By most people's definition that isn't garbage, especially when it's still a far superior result to what you get on a console.
