Right, so I have the following

Netgear router - upstairs bedroom.
360 downstairs lounge.
Media PC hooked up to same tv as 360 and has internet connection. Its not wireless as I have issues with wireless, so I bought a homeplug for router upstairs and also one for wireless pc.

So, I heard you can bridge the connections, but I have only NIC in PC and that is already in use by homeplug.

What would do from following below?

Buy additional NIC and bridge connections? Do I need a crossover or does a normal cat5 suffice?

or

I have a cat 5 splitter? Can I utilise that? or do I need a second one for the other end? I am presuming I do?

or

An alternative? Hardcabled would be better?

Just some general help would be very much appreacited. :)

if you're going to spend the money on an extra NIC for your computer you might as well just buy a switch instead. Plug both the pc and 360 into the switch then the switch into the homeplug. :)

You can bridge, but do you really want to have to turn the computer on at the same time all the time? I'm bridging but only cause I don't have cabled access :(

edit: gotta say I'm tempted now to see if I can get my housemate to put a homeplug in by the router... I hate wireless :( and they seem to be cheaper than when I last looked

Get a Linkys WRTG54 Wirelles router update it with DD-WRT firmware and use it as a Wirless Bridge. Then you can plug both your 360 and PC into the back of it works really well. If you do have a poor wirelless signal then you can buy another do the same and use it as a repeater

a bit pricier for a worse solution tho.

Just get a switch - plug it into homeplug, and then plug PC and 360 into it.

Switch.

I had all sorts of problems with bridging / ICS to my PC with the NAT being too secure. So that means you cant connect to friends etc. Also dont forget your PC will need to be on every time you want to play 360 with a bridging solution.
