Guys I'm trying to get myself a Herman Miller Embody, I'm struggling to find a decent supplier. can anyone give me a link to a good supplier of these chairs.

Also what your unbiased view on the chair after a bit of use ? Any here sit in one for long periods ? Is the chair has good as everyone says.

Above all is it worth the £800-£1000 price tag?

There are quite a few authorised dealers in the UK for their chairs.

Years ago, a firm I work for, got me & several others some ergonomic chairs from Back2, they probably got a even wider range of chairs today, their only showroom is in London, which is a shame.

I would still like a HM Aeron Chair, brilliant chair, but the price, ouch!

Thanks very much Nightglow. Ill take a look at there prices. No there not cheap which is why I'd love some user feedback.

If this thread happens to attract anyone who has an Aeron, please can you tell me if there is *any* change in the level of cushioning it gives your arse as it gets older, the chair that is. I.e. is it completely immune to the compression that normal foam cushion chairs get after heavy use?

I bought mine from office chairs UK, I've had it for somewhere between 12 and 18 months.

I find it to be very comfortable when combined with a foot rest.

There are two things that annoy me, it creaks quite a lot which is disappointing for such an expensive chair. The second problem is that the arms adjust for width simply by pushing on them, no levers or buttons, this means that whenever you try to move the chair by the arms you just end pulling them out of position, its really annoying.

Its so much more comfortable than the chairs we have in work though.

Not that I've noticed, all the chairs at work are Aerons - they've been there for years and not changed, I've also had my own for a few years and i've not noticed any change at all.

I actually visited Herman Miller's head office in London and got them to show me the entire range. I fully expected to order an Aeron but in the end I bought the following:

Herman Miller Precision Mirra
Adjustable arms
Tilt limiter and forward tilt
Seat Depth - FlexFront Adjustable
Back Material - TriFlex Polymer
Back support - Adjustable lumbar - AJ
Base / frame finish - Graphite - G1
Castors / glides - 65mm Castors carpet - BB Back finish - Graphite - G1
Armpad colour - Black - BK
Seat finish - Graphite dark - 7Q01

The reason was it is a newer design (a newer version is due shortly which I say in but preferred this one) and has more adjustment, most importantly for me the front seat is adjustable under the knees, the Aeron isn't. Ive only had the seat for a few weeks but I did have an Aeron some years back and that never sagged or wore in the 3 years I used it.

I am 46 and suffer from pelvis and coccyx pain which is why crappy Ikea seats just don't cut it I'm afraid. What I have found is you need to bed yourself into a good seat, it takes a few weeks to get it set right and you will get pain as you back is held in a position is is perhaps not used to, i.e. correctly. I had TERRIBLE coccyx pain 3 days in and I was about to send it back, but got over that and its gone completely now. I also had cronic pelvis pain 5 days in but again that is now history.

You notice it when you stand after prolonged sitting how good your back feels. That is what you pay for.

For the embody ? Brand new ? If so Trust me the slaes guy you spoke to please. £800 is the best price I've seen on it.

No, I bought the Mirra, I preferred it to the Embody. I sat in the entire range at their HQ and if you are close to London I'd suggest you do the same. I turned up and they invited me in, gave me a tour, got me coffee and spent and hour with me. Quality service.

I have on of these at work. They are standard issue at the office after extended trials of it and five other chairs. They are very comfortable and extremely adjustable. The biggest compliment I can give is that I don't really notice it.

Im in the Midlands so have no chance to do this, really wish I could, best thing I can do i think is ask unbiased people like you there views on these chairs.

I honestly think im nuts for spending near 1k on a chair, but my back is worth that easily.

I live in the Midlands but am often in the city on business. If, like me, you have a home office, I could spend 25% of my life sitting in the chair, even more. 1K over 10 years is a drop in the ocean when you look at it that way. I spent 6K on my bed for the same reason. There are people here with 4K PC's sitting in £50 seats and we have a nation who leaves 100K of cars on their drive so they can put £200 of boxes in their garage, so go figure.

That is what im thinking housey. I spend some days 10 hours plus at this chair. Sometimes more...

Housey what desk do you use ?? Ive been looking at also getting a hieght adjustable table once I get the chair sorted. As i know the chair is going to fix all my problems I need to stop slouching and use a table that does function over form instead of this lovley table I have here which is far to low for me :d

See im a big lad at 6ft 2 so makes all this even harder :(

I'm 6'1 and 17 stone. I went to Ikea for the desk. I bought from their Galant range of build it yourself combinations. I bought it with cable management and adjustable legs to allow me to get the height correct and keep a clean desk, which my OCD demands. I bought a corner desk with an extension and it is fine. I have never liked desks with keyboard trays or suchlike so this gave me the best combination for sensible price, about £300 I think.
