Hero seat base jamming?

Hi all,

I have had my Hero over a week now mostly I'm really happy with it but have noticed something really annoying/defective with it, I've posted on the CS forum too but wanted to see if you guys have experienced the same issues.

The seat base tilting keeps jamming when reclined to max/near max. When you move the handle to the horizontal position to unlatch and adjust the recline nothing happens when you rock back 9/10 times, then eventually a load clunk is heard and it slams forward!. I'm not a heavy guy ~85kg so the chair is well within its operating weight not over stressed. Anyone else had/having this issue? And any suggestions on what I can try to resolve it?

Are you definitely doing it right?

From memory, after switching it from locked to free moving, you then have to lean back in it slightly further to allow the unlock to take effect.

If you're doing that without the weight of a person on it, it will definitely slam forward - that spring has a hell of a lot of power in it (despite the clearly written warning, I nearly broke a rib when I was putting mine together and hit the handle by accident.)

Doing it with me on it, lean all the way back (against the stop) and nothing. Reduce lean pressure and stay in the same place sometimes reduce lean pressure and nearly get launched off it when it clunks and snaps forward.

Sounds like something is up for sure, I'm glad you contacted Customer Services, they will just send you a new tilt mechanism to fix this. :)
