Heroes of Newerth now free to play

I can't even play this trash anymore. If you join solo you still get in with other teams, so you can meet rape squads with 500 games together vs people who've just met and already hate each other. Or you get in with a team of 4 on your side who speak Russian so you have no idea what they're up to.

Not like it happens often in fairness.
 
Done two games so far, played the first as Blood Hunter and just ulted who people pinged, second I played Valkyrie and she was kinda boring :p With there being no vs AI mode and the tutorial being very basic and not going into any detail I've found it a lil hard to decide what to buy item wise, not like you have the time to go through them when you're actually in a game and I don't know how to deny, heard the key is "A" but I use that for camera panning, which keybind do I need to edit for that? Also any recommendations for a starting champion? I have zero issue actively using 4 abilities so don't necessarily recommend me based on some having passives just rather not have a hero that people depend on to win ;p pyromancer looks like a good starting point (coming from LoL, looks similar to Annie) but he isn't free atm

The matchmaking matches groups against each other, there is a very low chance of 5 solo players being matched up against a team of 5.
 
It is fairly good fun, usually play little 2v2, or 2v1 games with friends.

I do prefer LoL for full 5v5 solo games though, just seems that LoL games flow better, slightly less hardcore community, not a fan of 'deny' in HoN.
 
I thought I'd play as it's free, joined a game and got constantly called a downs kid, what is that? Everyone was really rude in general.

Playing with friends is the only way

I say this as a LoL player. I bought HoN a few days before it became free but I haven't been able to play it yet due to no colourblind mods.
