Just had an awful experience there!

New account. Did the tutorial and searched for a casual game matched to my stats. Got in and I was asked if I was a "newb." I couldn't respond for some reason so had to reconnect, I then answered yes.

All went well for 5 minutes and I died, then I received a torrent of abuse, and someone started a kick vote. Not for me that. Uninstalled.

It made me Grrr! I'd understand if I'd joined a competitive game. But where else can you practice an on-line only thing?

I will go back when I'm not so miffed. I think it would me up because I like what I have seen so far.

I was like that at first too but once you learn the game, the less people get uppity towards you.

It's a shame DOTA players aren't as welcoming as other communities but if you persevere it's very fun. :)

Just ignore ragers in casual games.
Ask for advice on heroes and laning position, then pick a guide in game for items.

As a beginner you should pick a support hero and ward like crazy to learn positions and stuff.

Or you could just uninstall :p

If you cant tolerate the **** attitude people have in these games i would give up now. I would recommend playing League of Legends instead, you still get the ragers, but its nowhere near as bad as DOTA and HoN from my experience.

I just tried LoL. Only the tutorials so far. Pretty much the same game, eh?

It is a lot easier to understand with less mechanics so less likely to get raged at.

HoN is pretty rubbish now anyways, was ruined when it went f2p and early access etc.
