He's dead, Jim. Options for a broken monitor?

Like an absolute moron I managed to crack the screen of my aw3821dw by dropping it on the corner of my desk while moving.

Not covered by accidental damage insurance, pretty sure no chance on warranty, and also guessing any kind of repair is out of the question.

So my question is, what do I do with it?

Seems absolutely mad to literally throw it away but I'm genuinely at a loss about what I can do to recoup some of the value...

Feel your pain, did same. Sucked it up and slung it

Get in touch with Dell, they will replace the panel at cost. When I broke my 34" I sent it in they gave me a price and put a new panel in.

When you say it's not covered by insurance, is that because you don't have it? Because that sounds the very definition of accidental damage

Don't have accidental damage, contents covered items in transit by removal company, but was absolutely fine until I biffed it off the corner of my desk.

Tried Dell for panel replacement, I quote verbatim:
I am afraid it is Alienware monitor which cannot be repaired instead please make new monitor purchase from our website

Not exactly helpful.

Sounds like it's destined for the bin, which feels like absolute madness, pretty gutted, was a bit of a lockdown treat, didn't even get a year out of it!

Oof, yes that hurts, I have the same monitor so know how expensive they are :(

I guess in that case, all you can do is maybe trawl ebay for a dead one which has an intact panel, or try to sell for parts
