Hey all :) // Help with a build..

Fair play guys, you were slightly more hardcore then me..

I honestly can't believe we managed 4 pages last night, awesome people

If im honest, knowing what I'm like, once I'm back in the loop it won't take long before something changes, seen as I'm working on PC's at work 5days a week lol

Well it seems that OCUK aren't aware of the ETA time for the Club 3D ATI Radeon HD5850, so I'm looking for other suggestions! :D

I'm almost tempted to go for it's big brother Club 3D ATI Radeon HD5870 and pay £100 more, but I don't really want too if I don't need to! :)

Has this card HD5850 actually been released yet? It seems that no one, anywhere has it in stock.. :(

Just wait for wait for what you really want, I wouldn't spend the extra for a 5870.

If you order now, you will be sure to be inline to receive a5850

5 series stock has been a nightmare.

The 5870 is a very very nice card but there's a bit of a premium on it being the fastest single gpu available.

You don't need this level of performance just yet. Nothing on the market that troubles these high end cards but buying this gives you a bit more future proofing and bragging rights :)

Just be sure it'll fit in your case as it's a big card :)

Yeah realistically I'm waiting for the HD5850, I don't really want to spend anymore as mentioned.

It just worries me that no one seems to have any idea when the ETA is :p

I wanna have this ready for i39 ;)

Well the XFX card will be just as good as the club 3D one :)
I know it's more expensive but it beats waiting ;)

£259.99

Oh, I see. That's a typo I reckon. The card is listed elsewhere as having a 725Mhz core. 850Mhz is the clock on the 5870.

The XFX card will reach the same clock as the club3d one at any rate. They're all the same cards/coolers, only the customer service/warranty is different :)

Yeah I just realised that actually..

XFX one added to basket.. I don't mind the 30quid extra to be honest.. just need to hope the case comes in stock wednesday then :p

I know I probably shouldn't add anymore to this as it's already long enough..

Build is ready to order, just waiting on this bloody coolermaster case which no one has any idea on when it's going to arrive :p

Just seen this ram:

How does this compare to my current ram selection?:

On this Motherboard?:

Cheers again for your help guys :) would have been sitting there for months trying to figure things out otherwise :D

Still rather have the corsair.

Will allow more overclocking headroom, you going to overclocking massively?

No I highly doubt it if I'm honest, so i'd be looking at quicker stock potentional.. I've never been in the overclocking game, but I suppose everyone starts somewhere!

forgive my noobness, this is a very similar build to mine. how come does the corsair memory allow for more headroom over the patriot 1600mhz memory as i currently also have this toss up.

The patriot is rated to the higher speed.

My personal experience with corsair is that I have never had one issue with them.

No, go ahead. I'm in exactly the same situation, more the merrier :p

My finalised build is this, I think..

Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 5850 - £218.98
Intel Core i5 750 2.66Ghz (Lynnfield) (Socket LGA1156) - £143.03
Asus P7P55D Intel P55 (Socket 1156) DDR3 Motherboard - £118.99
Corsair TX 850W ATX SLI Compliant Power Supply - £97.27
Cooler master CM690-II Advanced Case - £89.99
Corsair 4GB (2X2GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C9 - £74.58
Corsair H50-1 High-Performance CPU Water cooler - £63.99

But now I'm split on the RAM, as I've mentioned I'm not going to do any major overclocking, unless I get caught in the bug, so can't see how the Corsair will benefit me over the Patriot if running at standard speeds, even if I OC, surely the Patriot is going to be open to quicker speeds, seen as it's already leading on spec at stock?

any reason you picked the asus motherboard over the gigabyte ud4 ?

only wondering as your builds identical to mine other than the mobo choice. Only reason i went for the ud4 is it seems to be a common choice for overclockers.
