Hey everyone Iv just joined this forum to do some research so here is a little about me.

So I have always been a console sort of guy mainly for all in one ease and as I have a son who is now 12 a console I think has been the best bet, however recently he has got even more into his gaming mainly driving sims, and for Xmas we have just brought him a full cockpit with full thrustmaster gaming wheel with added 3 pedals and shifter, now this got me thinking, if we have gone to this extent for his gaming experience then why not think of a project that me and him can do during next year, so the plan currently is for him to use is tv in his room as his screen this is a 47" 1080p tv and he will be using his xbox1 (for now).

So we would love build a gaming PC, I have built PC in the past but not gaming and since then there has been a lot of changes to technology with added ssd and m.2 drives and stuff also water cooling has become far more available.

So I'm going to be doing some research over the next month or 2 before I start to compile all my hardware, I know the items I need but don't know what specs I need

So my first question is how do you guys suggest I select specific pieces hardware i.e. What cpu should I go for , what gpu, what board?

I'm not asking what items I should get but what items make a good gaming PC , what should I be looking for in specific hardware, is it best to select a budget and work to that (which I don't have at the moment however I'm not looking to build some super gaming PC where money in no object, realatic price for me at the moment without looking into it to much I would say is around £600-£700, but there could be movement on this), or select a spec and work to that (which I have no idea what I want yet).

Sorry if this is a lot I am currently researching however lots of things I'm seeing and reading is all based on top of the range stuff which going by those prices are out of my range for now.

Thanks everyone and any help is greatly appreciated.

Cheers Ric
