Been away for a while but im back with a question from a friend which is really bugging me...
Specs:
Pentium D @ 2.80GHz
Some crappy Chips mobo...Not even worth mentioning.
7800GS - AGP
2GB of Crucial Performance RAM @ 800MHz
Basically he wants to get the most out of his processor before going Core Duo 2, is there a board which supports the old Pentium D and the new Core Duo 2 CPU's?
If so which would you guys recommend? He's also looking at ditching the AGP 7800GS for a 8600GT 512MB PCI-E version, but im not sure if perhaps this is the best he could get for the money.
Could you also recommend a PCI-E graphics card aswell considering this?
As ive only been Pentium since the Core Duo 2's i have no idea on how the backwards compatibility works for the Pentium D's.
He most likely will be overclocking the CPU on the new motherboard so could this also be put in the picture.
Thanks for any help!
