Hey can anyone help with dual boot?

Hi
im new to this so bare with me please.
ok. i bought a dell inspiron 1721 in january this year and everysince i have despised the brilliant vista software it was shipped with. soo i have been doing some reaseach and found about dual booting. brilliant i thought.... it wasnt to be. i would like to dual boot the vista setup with windows xp home(which i already have).
the problem i am getting is that the xp home setup does not recognises the vista harddrive or the harddrive at all. i have tried incorperating the (or what i think is correct) drivers using Nlite but all the installtions created just cant seem to find it.

any help or comments greatly appreciated

cheers

Yeah this is how i first found about the whole dual booting idea but i can do allt he way up to stage3 and cant go any further because the xp setup can recognize my laptops hard drive. i think it maybe in raid 0 setup on two hard drives. will have a look though.

think its just a case of someone who's already done it possible to send or show me to some drivers???
dunno

Cheers anyway

Have you looked on the manufacturers website to see if they have raid drivers for dos. Some sites will indicate its for dos setup for when you have to press F6 for additional drivers during setup etc...

Edit: Oops, beaten by Opti...

Cheers Guys for all the brill replys. kinda Temporaily givin up on the dual boot as i cant seem to find the right drivers but does anyone have any idea *** is up with my laptop coz it is realli starting to bug me now. its a dell inspiron 1721 as i said above i think running windows vista premium but it seems to be realli lagging and at the moment just an example of what i have got open. off the task manager it reads out at 53% phisycal memory and the cpu keeps varying between 60-93 ish but some times it will boot up and litterally sit there on 100% for like half an hour.
also the hard drive seems to lag. when listening to music it also keeps cutting in and out not stopping playback but just on and off but the sound card is working fine.

any ideas.
soz gone off the original post abit.

quick read through and i dont get it

are you trying to dual boot with 1 hard drive using xp and the other using vista ?

if so then install xp on 1 hard drive then unplug it and install vista on the other hard drive......plug them both back in and your done.
