Asking for someone because I genuinely don't have a clue and they couldn't find anything on it apparently.

Mate had an accident where he clipped another parked lorry on a private yard. Went through insurance and I imagine a lorry hitting something is never going to be small but he's not heard back since.

Does he have to notify his car insurance if he's not anything about an outcome etc?
I imagine come renewal time is the biggest issue? Do you tell them or not as it wasn't on his insurance?

I honestly don't know. Especially because it wasn't actually on a road apparently but in a private loading bay?

Have you had any accidents in the last 5 years? Is the usual rough wording so the answer is yes.

The fact he told the insurance company means not declaring it would be very silly, these companies aren't daft.

From what I gather it was the company who went through their insurance so he didn't sound that involved.

Thanks for the help, I'll pass on that he needs the details of the claim so he knows what to tell them. :)

He should still declare it at renewal. He's had an accident, regardless of him or the company reporting it. If he doesn't then a future claim may be rejected. Insurance companies share information so they will certainly be able to find out at claim time.

Renewal has nothing to do with it, they must be informed as soon as any details change even part way through a year. It states that on all the policies and all insurance companies will use it against you if you don't and something happens.
