I have to take a theory test before I do my Cat C training (rigids 7.5t+).

But there are 5 to choose. All are CPC I think but which ones do I need to actually drive a HGV for a supermarket for example? It says some jobs only need 2?

"Driver CPC part 1 test: theory

You can book the part 1 theory test of the Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) as soon as you’ve got your provisional licence.

The test is made up of 2 parts - multiple choice and hazard perception. You have to book both parts separately, but you can take them on the same day.

It doesn’t matter which one you take first but you need to pass both within 2 years of each other to get your theory test certificate."

It's ok, found the answer... it's one a series of linked pages to get the answer I needed. :)

The rest are actually the 'proper' CPC that I'm guessing I do after my test.

Do you have grandfather rights on C1 think it was around test passes before 1998 or something like that, as theres two different routes to get your CPC, you will need to do your CPC if you want to earn money driving an LGV.
Just passed my class C on Monday and now waiting on photocard to come back before I can do mod 4 to get my initial CPC.
You need to do the theory parts ie the multiple choice and hazard before practical test. But you can choose to do the Mod 2 case studies at the same time which would just leave the Mod 4 Practical demo to complete your initial CPC. (Unless you have grandfather rights on an older test pass pre 1998 I think) Then you can chose to do 35 hours of classroom training and it will grant you 5 years CPC. Thats only if you have the prementioned grandfather rights though.

No, passed my car license a month after it changed!

I was just wondering which one was the actual theory test that I NEED to take before I can train for a class C. By the looks of it, it is the very first theory and hazard perception is the actual theory test I need. All others are CPC which are required to get a job as you say. Thanks for confirming.

Yeah then only route is
1.Medical, Provisional application.
2.Book Theory Multichoice and Hazard Perception (These need to be done before driving test) but may aswell do Mod 2 Case studys on same day as you can just roll through all 3 at the same theory test centre.
3.You can do this around same time depending on trainer pass practical driving test and Mod 4 practical demo which will then mean you get your initial 5 years CPC and get your DQC card.
If you go on to Class 1 after you may be able to use some of your training days towards your next 5 years CPC aslong as your trainer is able to upload this training as CPC time.

I used an app to revise for the theory and hazard tests think it was aboout 4 quid on the Play store and worked wonders tbh.

And used drivertheory4all for the mod 2 case study revision which was useful also tbh theyre not that hard as long as you just use common sense.

Your LGV multiple choice (Category C) test has been booked.
Your LGV hazard perception (Category C) test has been booked.

I'll get these 2 out of the way first. Then will go through case studies when I start training. :) Cheers for the advice.
