There are two sort of "classes" of HGV licence as far as I'm aware.
I believe it works out like this - part 1 (C) allows you to drive rigid vehicles up to a certain weight, and part 2 (C+E) allows you to drive articulated vehicles with a higher weight.
I've heard of people completing training in as little as 2 weeks but I'm not sure if that is the norm, neither can I recommend how to go about finding a training provider, however good luck
:edit: You can find a lot of information by a basic google search, and although some of it may be conflicting it shouldn't take long to sift out the genuine information.
