I have the HH5 Type B router with my Amazon Fire TV and computer connected via ethernet and smartphones and tablets connected via wireless so I'm wondering is it best to use DHCP or static IP address?

DHCP and dynamic IPs unless there's a good reason not to.

DHCP IP reservations if devices do require static IPs to work.

Manually assigned static IPs as a last resort.

I only use manually set static IPs on my Raspberry Pi devices, so they boot that little bit quicker. They also have their IP outside of the DHCP range, with a DHCP reservation set (so I don't accidentally re-use them).

All other main devices have DHCP IP reservations set.

Phones / tablets etc, I don't care what IP they have.

By DHCP IP reversations set, is that the same as Always use this IP address on HH5 router so that each time DHCP gives out the same IP to the device?

DHCP for most devices, if you had a DVR for CCTV then assign a reservation for that on the router.
