im also using a corsair h60 cooling ;)

anyone able to shed some light on this please as i would like to try get some more out of the cpu

what is your vcore? (cpu voltage) have a look in cpu-z while its uner load with either prime95 or intel burn test.
and check to see if your ram is running at stock speed, that will also be shown in cpu-z

but i must warn you, your mobo will limit your overclock.
my Q6600 needs 1.45v to get to 3.4ghz but i have it on a P45 mobo which are great overclockers.

edit. just seen your pic.
in the bios, bump up the bios to 1.45v and then increase the fsb from 334 to 350.
boot back into windows, and stress test using intel burn test for 10 passes.
if it passes, go back into bios and bump the fsb to 370.
repeat test.
if passes. bump it to 390, (basically, take your time and go in stages)
if it fails, either remove 10mhz and try again or raise the vcore some more, you are safe upto 1.5v

thank you i will try this

change your sig, you are only allowed 4 lines of text
Oh and when testing, dont let it go higher than 80.C,

"You may use a signature (commonly used in email messages) in your posts. You can specify in your profile a signature to use at the bottom of your posts. When you post, there is an option to use your signature. A signature may contain one or more images but they must fit within a box with maximum dimensions of 400 x 75 pixels (width x height) and with a maximum (combined) file size of 20k. Images containing mostly very large words or animated .gifs will not be permitted. You may also add 1 consecutive lines of normal or smaller text directly above or underneath the image with no spaces inbetween image and text. If no images are used then up to 4 consecutive lines of normal or smaller text is permitted. Do not pad out your text lines with blanks lines. A line of text is defined as having a maximum length of 400 pixels. If you want to turn the signature off in the future, you can come back and edit your post. If you have specified a signature in your profile, the box will be automatically ticked for you."

That's a B3 stepping chip which is no-where near as good for overclocking as the G0 stepping chips. What motherboard do you have?

Edit: Just seen your OP :P That motherboard wasn't built for overclocking. You're lucky to get 3Ghz on that tbh!

i did warn you about the mobo.
also its a G0 revision Q6600 which are the better ones ;)
i see you still have speddstep enabled, as your multiplier is only at 6,
disable all the energey saving features, eg. C1est, speedstep etc...
also cpu-z is only showing your vcore at 1.39v (is that uner load?) if so rise it another couple of levels, to say 1.42v
also try changing the multiplier from x 9 to x8
so for 3.1ghz speed, try a fsb of 388, so 388 x 8 = 3100 or 3.1ghz

have you raised the other voltages as well?
try raising the northbridge (NB or MCH) volatge a couple of levels.
also any others by a couple of levels.

if this still fails, be happy with 3.0 on that board;)

i dont see anything wrong there, but i may be wrong.
doing a quick google search "g41mt-s2p overclocking q6600"
it seems that no one has got past 3.0ghz on that board. so you are at its limit for now.
return the cpu voltage to what it was in your first post.

either be happy with that, or buy a used P35/P45/X38 or X48 motherboard and you should get higher fairly easy.
you can get these used for around £30-£40
then sell your one for around £15 to £20 ish, so its a cheap upgrade

good ones are
any main brand with P45, P35, X38 or X48 in the name, when you find one, do a google search for a review, just make sure its supports ddr3 ram

ps. was that you on the Jeremy Kyle show in your youtube link? ;)
you are brave if it was you :D

1.4v for 3.00GHz is far too much, mine does that on standard volts! I'm not sure how I thought it was a B3 chip though :p

after a while, all those cpu-z shots look the same ;):)
a G0 will usually do 3.0 on stock voltages, i did say to him to return it to what voltage he had before, so it should be at or very near stock voltage.

if he wants to stick with this cpu, then he has to either leave it at 3.0 or get a new mobo imo

A decent mobo is the way to go, I got my P5K for around £30 and it's just fantastic. It certainly pushes the chip to it's limits. I'd clock it further, but 3.6GHz is the sweet spot with temperatures and voltages, any higher and both just go through the roof! I'm very happy with it as it is though :)

The G41 chipset is the limitation...you probably gonna hit the brick wall at 3.0-3.2GB no matter what vcore you use.

My 6600 GO on my old 650i board won't stable beyond 3.0-3.1GHz not matter what vcore I used, but after switch the motherboard to a Asus P5Q Deluxe, I can hit 3.6GHz stable easy enough...just need enough vcore to back it up.

For best result on overclocking Core2Quad, you should have a board with P35/P45 chipset.

I have the same board here sitting with a Q6700. Going to rebuild my kids pc with them. Just need to check the cpu stepping and then go for a mild overclock.

EDIT: It is a G0.
