Hi all
I have just spent a few hours going through the forum. There are some very clever people out there, there knowledge on computers astounds me.and its a good thing they are out there to help the likes of me.But one thing that I can
not understand,What is the need to Overclock a PC,to the level that some of
These clever people take them too.It can not be for gameing, as the PC overclockers built for me will play all games with the sliders all at maximum with
perfect results.the only Overclock I acheved was to set A1 overclock @ 8% and
My memory timeings to 3,8,4,4 and that is as far as it will let me go.
At these settings my 3D Mark 05 is 12161 CPU 6520 / 3D Mark 06 is 6520 CPU
1936 I wonder what I could get mine up to if I new How.

Hi, that's quite an impressive willy you have there. Did I say willy? I meant computer. :o

Hey, don't be deceived. Computers have little or nothing to do with this forum. It's mostly dissing other members, recommending mustard for any human frailty, talking about bust-ups with your girl/boyfiend and asking advice on how to cook a steak. Welcome to the nut house.

Thrills :)

Getting the odd performance point over your forum buddies by using a new, exotic and exciting technique is one of the reasons, its a bit like being a performance enthusiast; some use car performance as a measure, others PC performance.

In day-to-day meaning of computer usage, however, all overclocking does achieve is to burn out the CPU faster. It used to be viable, back when an 800MHz CPU could be overclocked to 1GHz, but these days the gains are much more minimalistic.

Basically there's a chap who lurks the forum called 'The Bollian' who these guys try to impress, in the hopes of getting into his pants some day.
