Hi, I've been hacked by a neighbor I believe for over a year now, there not only piggy backing my network but hav access t my pc n play games with me by messing me around when I try n do something. I thought I'd finally got them locked out using a gd firewall but somehow they can switch my.network to a public one without internet, this gives them access t my pc. My neighbour has always been into CB radios, cud I be added to one of those networks? Anyone know how t stop them switching my network, they even do it on my fone. It's a nightmare, plz someone help me. Thank you
 
Rather confusing post but let's start with the basics. If he is getting access then either he's getting a direct connection onto your network (via wires or Wifi) or has somehow installed malware on your computer or you have some sort of other vulnerability you've inadvertently exposed he is exploiting or a combination thereof. It won't be CB radios. Let's start with the easier things to try
  1. Do you use powerlines? Networks can hop between buildings easily enough on powerline. Remove them from the equation and see if this perceived mis-behaviour stops. If it does then powerlines have a secure encryption mechanism you should be using to prevent this.
  2. Change your WiFi password and make sure it uses as robust an encryption mechanism as possible. WPA3 if your router/access points support it and certainly nothing less than WPA2
  3. Do any of the following things strike you as something you might have done? Set up a dynamic DNS service, run a game server, followed a set of instructions for forwarding a port on your router, used something called a DMZ on your router. If the above two points don't stop it and any of these feel familiar then it'll give a clue as to what to try next.
Try that first before we get into malware.

I have some other questions that the answers to might help:
  • Why do you think it is your neighbour?
  • Why do you believe it has been over a year? Do you recall anything that happened, anything you did on your computer or network at the time you think this started happening?
  • What is the good firewall you got?
  • Can you elaborate a bit more on the symptoms beyond "playing games" , "messing me around" and "switch my network on my phone". Something a bit more descriptive as to what you're doing, what you see changing and the consequences.
