Hi all.

I didn't notice the website had a forum untill the other week when browsing and I;ve been browsing the site and bought things b4 from here fort ages...DOH!.
Anyway, i need a new cpu, motherboard, atleast 12 gigs of mem a good biggish ssd hard drive 've read these are miles better then the old sata drives?
I currently have a 4890 1 gig gfx card which i will not be upgrading yet as i reckon with a better rig then what i currently have it will run miles better?
Any links would be great on what to choose?
Oh and i need a powerpack all for a maximum spend of £500.

Hope you can help me decide as i will be re newing from this rig.

P4pq pro motherboard(dodgy memory slots) :O
e7300 coreduop cpu
4 gigs of stand mem
700 watt standard psu
4890 1 gig gfx card.

Hope you can help me out?

Thanks again :)

Hi mate thanks for the links :)
Yes my current hdd's are sata but there old ones, not very fast at all.
Isn't the i7's better then the i5's?
Yes i currently have windows 7 ultimate 64 bit :)
Is it worth getting 12 gigs of mem instead of 8?
Just for futureproofs sake?
As i will need this rig to last me years.

Better SSD than my mate Beej spec'd. In all honesty i wouldnt blame you for going with the crucial M4. Note the Ivybridge CPU not sandybridge (same socket i know its confusing lol).......uses less "Juice" has a better integrated graphics chip in it over it's sandybridge prequel....clocked ever so slightly higher too :)

I hate to be "that guy" but someone has to.....

The SB i5K is only a £10 saving, i'd sooner have the IB with just the stock cooler. It's improved IGP i would hope will also improve intel quick sync. Plus the pci-express 3 lane on the z77 mobo needs an ivybridge CPU to work properly not a sandybridge CPU......the OP did say as futureproof as poss.

That 64GB SSD is really too small. Plus as they increase in size the write times improve as well....so it's not just a matter of capacity.

The RAM clashes badly with the mobo colours....again i am "that guy" lol and the x24 LG dvd-rw is literally a smidge more. I see where you were going buddy, i don't mean to be a (insert expletive) but the OP doesnt sound like he is fully up to speed on current kit so just pointing out the pitfalls. I mean no offence

lol n@ spending 500 quid and no free delivery, that is shocking i must say.

As loyal members we get free next day delivery (check top right of the page). From my experience it is Class A. Yes you can get free delivery from competitors but it's budget postage they usually give you free and takes ages 3-4 days in my experience.

So yes....double DOH ;)

Thanks for the advise mate, i sure am not clued up in the latest computer techn ology these dayas so links to the latest and greatest stuff would be great :)
It sounds as though every1 likes the Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor ???
So that seems like a top notch buy.
Plus every1 has recommended the motherboard the.

So that sounds like a buy :)
Just mem now i want 16 gigs just to be greedy so will pay extra so which brand do i go with that fits this motherboard?
Also powersupply and the ssd drive, i am after a decent sized ssd drive as these are a ton better then my old satas i have now.
Again thx all for the input i really apriciate the help thx :)

I've been putting off paying clients all month waiting on the ivybridge release. Granted it's not a massive improvement but i've listed a fair few advantages.

The M4 is a spec'd favourite SSD here on the forum. I will advise you now to update the firmware and only connect the SSD initially when you install the OS in ACHI mode (its a sata setting in the BIOS).

If it's all geek gibberish don't panic just start a new thread when you build and we shall come a runnin lol

Yes, i agree, the IV does have some advantages. But the only advantage in regards the Pci-e3 slot, will be if he upgrades to a new card.

And yes you are correct again, i put in the 64gb to get a hdd aswell.

Actually, only put in the 2500k, because of the OP`s confusionover the SB and IV. Still not bad for £500 and a bit.:D
And no offense taken . I enjoy a bit of constructive critisim.:D
