Hi, New here, but been lurking a while. Love PC's and squeezing more out, but not that interested in bling or high end prices with colour anodizing! Done a bit of full HD editing, so learned that CPU speed and cores are important from my past benchmark results.
Cut my teeth OCing an Asus P5Q mobo and quad core to get 3.9Ghz stable for HD rendering. Many blue screens and long hours trying to get older boards and CPUs to do the job. Hit the ceiling on air cooling with tolerable fan noise.
New project is my first water cool P9X79D with i7-4930K. Learned a lot with several twists and turns. Going to start the OC and bench tests soon. I'm not sucked in by brands so don't want to offend - some of my loop parts came from the garden centre and B&Q!
During the build, I modified the circuit boards of 15 fans of mixed manufacture for 4 wire PWM with glitch free tacho speed out - some SOT-23/smd chips, a good scalpel and microscope needed!
Best wishes - Vox
