i have read the guide but it went straight over my head:confused:so if someone has the same sort of spec then a simple guide to it would be great help.

so do i copy this info and that will be alright anything else i need to do?

go to bios and increase the cpu fsb by 5-10 each time untill you get to 3.0ghz

once done, run prime on small ffts for 4hours, then prime blend for 8 hours

if all okay and stable good

you should get 3.0ghz on stock volts as i did

Its a hard thing to discribe really we need you to screenshot the power management tab (i think) and post that up and we can start from there

search the forum for people with the q6600 theres a few with p5q too so they might have screen dumps you can look at, look at the settings and maybe note them down and start from a low range and work your way up.

hope that helps

right i have upped the fsb to 3.02ghz i have not touched anything else at min what would be the next stadge of this overclocking not sure what to do next so heres a pic of the core temp and cpu-z please advise what would be next in lamens terms!!

what about the volts ect ram settings(4gb dominator with cooling fans)i have put my fans on meduim settings top and rear side cpu fan is on turbo im looking at the core temps at min they are 39c 37c 33c 35c idle so if someone can advise on whats next would be great cheers.

Your clock speed has gone down according to those screenies, the stock speed of the q6600 is 2.4ghz as you can see on ya first screenie, but its down to 2ghz now. And by looking at your screenie, you have uped the fsb, but your multiplier has gone from 9 to 6, hence the slower speed.

how long do i run that for then so i am doing it right then do i need to increase anything else to get it going better

I'd disable SpeedStep though, wont get accurate reading with that running. It will be in your BIOS somewhere, Asus usually list it under Intel SpeedStep... have a gander thru your BIOS and disable it.

Pneumonic - You run Prime95 or Orthos to test your overclocks... been a while since I clocked, and was always Orthos for me... but that hasn;t been updated since I last clocked... and that was a few years back now!
