Hi, Im after a new laptop for about £400-£500 but it needs to be able to handle long periods of high CPU loads without overheating as I use it for running SETI at home (see here for the OCUK team).

Can anyone suggest a chassis or laptop that can handle this without overheating with 3 particles of dust in the heatsinks. Noise is not a problem and Im after something with a good processor and longevity in use (not going to be broken in 6 months of daily use)

tbh if your looking for something for this kinda useage you'll prolly have to pay closer to twice that... so you can get for example something based on one of the clevo chasis as they have a substantial copper heatpipe cooling system.

why not change over to a desktop computer? it would be cheaper to do. unless you must have the ability to be portable doing work wherever.

Yeah, I need portability and as for heading up to near the £1000 mark, I know more money = better but I am tring to get the most bang for £500 while not overheating. Anyone got any ideas?
