Hi, I've been looking recently at getting my first av amp and 5.1 speaker set and have come across the new Dolby TrueHD etc formats that will be accompanying Blue-Ray and HD-DVD. My question is, will these formats require new amps?

From what I have read, decoding will be done in the players - so will existing amps be able to handle them?

Cheers

Its up in the air at the moment but the first gen will all be done in the players or it will die on its rear !

A friend has 9k's worth of processor and poweramp and is not worried at all, it would be commercial suicide to expect people to replace there kit for a new standard that may not succceed. I think Meridian have already stated they will not support it on processors so that a hell of a lot of high end that will not do it.
