Hi all, Merry Christmas! ( although it isn't christmas yet ;) .

This might seem like a stupid question, but i'm ok with PC's and stuff but not that good. So I'm thinking of getting this motherboard -

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...P45 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard

Will this support a 9800 GTX? Or a 280 GTX ( for future proof ) I can't spend anymore on that motherboard so getting a better one is out of the question :p

Also, will it support the Intel Core 2 Duo E8600?

I also want to get this case,

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...WA Shark Aluminium Full Tower - Black (No PSU)

Will this case fit that motherboard in, and also the graphics cards, such as a 9800 GTX or a 280 GTX?

Thanks, I know it might seem like a nooby question, but I just like to make sure ;)

Thanks for you're help!

Everything you listed should be fine, although I am not 100% sure about the 280GTX - they are long cards, but that is quite a modern chassis so you should be fine.

I think it should fit but looks to be a damn tight squeeze!

(Went on google for comparison shots of clearance)

I have a Antec 900 case with a GTX260, and it just squeezes in, but had to move my HDD.
My GF has the thermaltake shark and its about as big as mine so I would say that it is likely to fit in there.

Ah , thanks for the fast replys! :D Ok, just to clarify, the motherboard will work with that Intel E8600 and a 280 GTX, and should hopefully just fit in? :p

That combo is fantastic :D be wary of what ram though, asus p5q's have been very picky depending how much of certain ram (mainly ocz)

Although if you wanted to shave a few pennies and take the (very very easy with core2) plunge for OC'ing, you could get a healthy oc on a 260gtx and the e8400/8500 ;)

4 x 1 or 2 x2? As far as i know when most problems occur its when 4 dimm's are used rather than just 2

Checked the QVL for it there (no 4gb kits for crucial on it), i'd imagine you should be perfectly fine with those. QVL lists can never be really trusted anyways as technically mine shouldn't work (OCZ) but it does lol

Haha ^^ Ok, so, this is good, so I got a 9800 GTX OC, 4 gig of Crucial, Intel Core 2 E8600 and that Shark Case. Will all that work with the motherboard :P sorry for asking to many things lol, i just don;t want to buy something and it won't work ^^

Yeah it'll be fine (what happened to the gtx280?) you won't get full use of the ram unless on a 64bit OS remember

Oh sorry, forgot to mention, I currently have a 9800 GTX OC, :p I was woundering for future proof, if it "would" support a 280 GTX ^^. I have Windows Vista 64 bit Ultimate

Ah i see, yeah that board will support any current and recent to be released PCI Express 2.0 cards (providing you have a powerful enough PSU at that time). Fyi: 9800 gtx and 260/280GTX are exactly the same dimensions ;)

Yeah that'll be fine, same as a lot of the ocuk forum users, as well as me :)
Although no doubt someone will come in and notice its a 620 and start preaching that it'll die a horrible death, as a few have recently given up the ghost

Haha ^^ , ok one more last time to clarify :D ( sorry lol )

So that motherboard, the 9800 GTX, the 4 Gig, the powersupply and the processor, and the case :P. Everything should fit and work fine ^^ Thanks!
